On Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the 32nd Government of Israel headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu won the approval of the Knesset by a vote of 69-45, and its ministers took the oath of office.
MK Avigdor Liberman was sworn in as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Netanyahu: "The greatest danger to the State of Israel and to mankind in general will come from a radical regime that will try to arm itself with nuclear weapons. Israel is facing two immense challenges on the economic and security fronts. Our decisions and actions will determine whether we are able to weather the storms."

The elimination of visa for the Romanian citizens who wish to travel to Israel

The Israeli Embassy in Romania has the honor to inform that starting with March 1st the Romanian citizens who wish to travel to Israel do not need visa. The period of staying does has to be of maximum 30 days.
The other types of visa (for studies, work) are still needed.

In all cases, the passport must be valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry.

A foreign national who had worked withoul legal problems of any kind in Israel in the past in agriculture, industry, construction, home nursing and other services may visit Israel only of at least one year has elapsed since leaving the country.

 

Romanian citizens falling into the following categories must contact the Israeli Ministry of Interior prior to their visit to Israel  to check and receive permission to enter the country in order to avoid a situation where they might be denied entry:

- a person who was expelled in the past from Israel;
- a person who illegally resided in Israel;

- a person who was refused the entry in the past;

-a person come to visit a foreign worker in Israel
- a person who are relatives of a foreign worker in Israel;

30th Anniversary of the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty

Thirty years ago, on March 26, 1979, the historic peace treaty between Israel and Egypt was signed at the White House in Washington D.C. - the result of courage shown by two leaders: Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.

FM Livni: "Peace between Israel and Egypt, the leader of the Arab world, and the relations between the two countries are of strategic importance - for both sides. I strongly believe that despite some difficulties over the last 30 years the fact that our relations are solid and stable speaks for itself."
